Arisi Puttu is a kerala breadfast item made with rice flour, coconut and sugar /jaggery. It is cooked in kula puttu maker and eaten with kadala curry / banana / milk.
Before you proceed, read the recipe for Ragi Kuzha Puttu. In that recipe, I have shown how to layer the ragi flour and coconut in a traditional puttu maker.
Sugar / Jaggery
Traditionally, rice is soaked in water for a couple of hours and then ground into coarse granules after removing all traces of water.
This is an easier version where we use rice flour.
Add a pinch of salt to rice flour and mix well. Sprinkle water little by little and mix well. The amount of water will decide the success of this recipe. As I have shown in the ragi puttu recipe, the flour should be semi moist or it will not allow the steam to pass through.
Layer the flour and coconut alternately and cook for 15 minutes.
Using a ladle push the steam cooked puttu out.
Tasty puttu ready.
Sprinkle some sugar and enjoy with banana.
