Basque stitch is an easy and quick border stitch. It looks like lazy daisy / twisted chain stitches are dangling from a string at regular intervals.

This stitch is stitched between two parallel lines and is a combination between twisted chain stitch and the blanket stitch. So knowing how to work those two stitches will help.

Bring the needle up and go down a little further away on line #1 and come back up directly below on line #2.

Take the working thread behind the needle.

Then wrap it around the needle by bringing it above the needle and then below it like shown in the picture below.

The thread will look like the English letter Z.

Pull needle. This will form a twisted chain stitch. Anchor the chain to the fabric by going down at the tip of the chain like shown in the picture below.

Bring the needle back up at the starting point of the chain on line #1.

Repeat the steps.

This stitch can be used to make curved borders.
