This tutorial shows how one can crochet the bobble stitch. This stitch can be used when you want to crochet fabric that has soft bumps. This stitch requires a lot of yarn.
In written patterns you might see bobble stitch mentioned as Dc5tog (Double crochet 5 together)
In crochet charts, this is how a bobble stitch will look like.
Start with a row of foundation chain
We can stitch the bobble stitch directly on the foundation row of chains. For this demo, I have added a row of double crochet stitches.
Pass hook under the chain.
Yarn over and draw yarn through the chain.
There will be 3 loops on the hook now. We will yarn over and draw the yarn through the two leftmost loops.
So yarn over.
Draw yarn through 2 leftmost loops.
Typically, to make one bobble, we repeat what we just did 5 times.
So let us do this one more time. Yarn over
Pass hook under the same chain.
Yarn over and draw yarn.
Yarn over and draw through the two leftmost loops.
After 5 such stitches, this is how your hook should look.
Yarn over and pull yarn through all the loops.
Yarn over again
and pull through the loop just like you make a chain stitch.
Adding the second bobble right next to the first one.
Second bobble is over.
We can place bobbles right next to each other or
we can add a few double crochet stitches in between two bobbles.
Backside will look like this.
Bobbles have to be stitched on the same side. So the next row will be a row of single crochet stitches.
