Giles Andrea presents another entertaining book in Dinosaurs Galore. This is a good introductory book on dinosaurs for young children. They will learn the names of different dinosaurs along with fun facts about them. This is a good book to listen for and identify rhyming words with your children.
The humorous verse is presented as back and forth conversations between dinosaurs. The highlight though are the illustrations. The illustrations are bold and colorful that even very young children will grasp the facts presented in the text. Slightly older children will understand the funny twists in the pictures.
My five year old was captivated by the Tyrannosaurus rex’s teeth falling out after trying to attack the Ankylosaurus and the Triceratops lying down with its horns. Some of this is spilling over into the children’s play as they pretend to be different dinosaurs.
The baby diplodocus that hatches on the first page walks the entire length of the book. My toddler was very excited to find the baby dinosaur on each page until it finally snuggles with mommy on the very last page. He loved to talk about where the dinosaur was hiding on each page and what would happen if the bigger dinosaurs saw him.
