This is the eleventh tutorial in this series of Canadian smocking tutorials. Today we will learn how to smock this braid pattern.

Fabric taped to ground and grid is drawn on the backside of the fabric.
Here is the graph / grid for the braid design in Canadian smocking.
This design is smocked by tying together the two ends of the red diagonal lines.
Go back to A and then pull tight and make a knot. This will form a diagonal fold on the fabric. Repeat this for all diagonal lines in the pattern.
