This is a very simple and easy to set up color sorting Montessori activity for toddlers. Children learn to visually discriminate between different colors.
Buttons in different colors
Color paper circles. I chose circle shape as we were learning about circles that week.
Advantages of this activity
Vocabulary – Learn new colors
Fine motor and pre-writing skills – Improves pincer grip when picking up buttons.
Visual discrimination – Helps children observe attributes of objects and then verbalize what they observe.
We sorted the buttons.
We also used old playdoh boxes to sort.
Then we arranged them in a line and counted them.
Go ahead and let your little one play with some buttons.
Important: Do not leave toddlers unattended during this activity.
