This tutorial has step by step pictures showing how to make this cone shaped wire flower vase / bouquet.
15 pieces of wire each measuring 2.5 meters.
Fold two pieces of wire into half and make a box knot / square knot. The horizontal wire traveling right will be used as the running wire from now on.
Continue adding the other 13 pieces to this running wire.
We cut 15 pieces of wire. One was used as running wire. So we will have 14 knots. This will be the first line of the vase.
Each knot will have one wire going up and one wire going down from it. Get a hold of wires going up from the first and second knot. Now make a knot with these 2 wires.
This new knot will have one wire going left and another going right. Use the wire going right as the horizontal running wire for the second row.
Continue making knots till the end.
You will see a triangle formed near the first knot of this line.
Second line is done now.
The third line is made below the first line in a similar fashion.
3 lines are done and this is how the tip of the cone will look like.
Flip it over.
Take the two wires at the tip and make a knot.
Now use the wire that is intersecting all the other wires in that line as running wire and make knots.
Continue making knots.
4 lines are done.
Now again at the tip, you will see 2 lines intersecting like shown below.
Start making knots when ever two nearby wires intersect each other.
After a few knots, you will be able to see the cone shape forming.
Cone is growing.
As you can see, one side of the cone will be flat and the other will form a triangle tip.
Now start tucking in the excess wires like shown below.
All wires have been tucked in. Usually plastic flowers are attached to these wires now. The flowers can be purchased from craft shops.
Since I forgot to buy them and don’t want to wait till next India trip, I will demo using pony beads. The flowers will have holes in the center just like beads.
Keep the vase upright and see how the flowers fall and then chop off the excess wire.
