Getting our little fussy eaters to eat some nutritious food is the biggest exam we moms face. It is everyday drama and fuss and fighting. Even this morning I had my little one screaming out I don’t want dosa. So I tried a little trick and got him to eat up the whole breakfast. And got him to tell me I want this everyday. Haha….Ok so lets get started…
The ingredients first of all
1 egg (any egg)
Chilli powder (optional)
1 tsp milk
Before I get started let me mention one thing. I have used quail egg here. Quail is a type of hen. These eggs are very small compared to the normal eggs. But its value is 10 times a normal egg. These eggs increase the immunity in children. If you give one egg a day, kids fall sick less frequently. Specially if kids are fussy eaters they tend to fall ill a lot. Well you can use any egg of your choice.
Here is picture of quail egg.
Break the egg into a small bowl. Add salt, grated carrot, coriander leaves and a pinch of turmeric powder. Add a teaspoon of milk and mix well.
Turmeric powder is added in egg so that your tummy does not get upset. Eggs are heavy for the stomach. Turmeric powder has medicinal values. So helps our stomach digest egg well. Milk is added just to get the egg a little fluffy. Once this is ready, heat a tawa. Check if its hot by sprinkling a little water. If you get a good hissing sound then your tawa is ready. Pour out one spoon of batter and spread it into a circle.
Spread the egg mixture using a spoon on the dosa batter once the batter is half cooked. You can sprinkle chilli powder and pepper powder now.
At this stage pour lots of ghee. Ghee helps to increase the memory power in children. A good two spoons can be given to children. But we must take care not to give them too much also. We do not want our angels to get obese.
Turn over the dosa and cook for a few seconds. If the egg over cooks, kids generally do not have it as they have to chew a lot. Fussy eater do not like food they have to chew a lot.
Now remove the dosa onto a plate or if you are fast enough you can do it on the tawa itself. We need the egg side on top. Now use a scissor and make a cut to the centre of the dosa. Then roll it up from one side till u finish. U get it in a tent shape.
Tadaaaa our nutritious cheat dosa is ready. Haha… You can see the egg side goes inside. So again we don’t have our fussy eaters saying I do not want this yellow green stuff.. Remember to place it on the plate vertically so it looks like a cap (topi). So heres our egg topi dosa.
Serve it with coconut chutney or onion tomato chutney or whatever you child likes. It can even be served without any chutney.
