This is a beautiful and colorful version of the classic granny hexagon. This motif can be used to make blankets, bags and also the classic grandma flower garden quilt. Making that quilt is on my bucket list. 🙂
The pattern is really really simple and does not require any explanation. If you know how to crochet chains and double crochets, you can make this hexagon in 10 minutes. Make a few of them and voila, you have a fast growing blanket.
So here is the crochet chart for this hexagon. Hover over this picture with your mouse and you will see the pinterest button. You can pin it for future reference. (Connect with me – Pinterest board / facebook page)
I started with a magic ring. It is quicker than making a ring with chains. But if you prefer a ring with chains, make 5 chains and form a ring with a slip stitch.
In the first row, we will be adding 6 sets of 3 double crochet stitches with 3 chains between them.
In the next row, change color to green and start in the space created by the 3 chains in the previous row. Add 3 double crochet stitches, 3 chains and 3 double crochet stitches in the same space.
Repeat in all 6 spaces. These will form the corners of the hexagon.
End row with slip stitch.
The next row is the same. Change color to red.
Hexagon corners: 3 double crochet, 3 chains and 3 double crochet stitches.
Hexagon side: 3 double crochet stitches.
All of them added in between the sets of 3 crochet stitches in the previous row.
End row with a slip stitch.
