Heavy chain stitch or thick chain stitch is a chain stitch variation. Since it is thicker and heavier than the regular chain, it can be used to embroider border and outlines.
Knowing how to stitch the reverse chain stitch will definitely be helpful.
Make a small straight stitch like shown below and bring needle back up a little distance away.
Lace needle through the straight stitch.
Complete the chain by going down at the same spot.
Come back up again a little further away.
Lace needle through both the chain and the straight stitch.
In Hungarian braided chain stitch, we will lace the needle only through the chain and not the straight stitch.
Complete chain by going back down at the same spot and repeat the steps.
This stitch can be worked in a straight line as well as in curves.
