Rambutan is a red hairy fruit that is popular in south east Asian countries. They can also be found in some Asian markets.
This is a juicy gel like fruit that closely resembles lychee in taste.
Wash well and slice the skin.
You will be able to pull and peel the skin.
It is slippery like palm fruit / nungu and comes out of the skin easily.
It has an oval shaped seed in the middle. You can bite and eat the fruit around the seed like we eat seeded dates or you can cut the seed out with a knife.
This fruit is believed to be a coolant that helps prevent dehydration in south east Asian countries where summer can get very hot.
