Regular consumption of iron and applying oil infused with leaves that are rich in iron will help hair grow stronger and darker. That is why we always add curry leaves in hair oil. But not many know that amaranth (thandu keerai) can also be infused into hair oils.
So here is the method showing how you can make homemade iron rich amaranth hair oil to reverse gray hair and strengthen hair roots.

Remove leaves from the stem.
Wash in batches by soaking in water a few times to remove all dirt.
And pat dry.
Don’t even think about wasting the stem. My friend KK has shown in her blog how you can make tasty salad / raitha with Amaranth stem.
Grind the leaves without adding any water.
Ideally if you live in a place with a lot of sunlight, patties are made like this and dried in shade. Then the dry crispy pieces are dropped in hair oil.
Do the following if you live in a place where sun light is scare.
Heat enough oil so that the paste will be covered in it.
Heat till the moisture evaporates and oil separates.
The sediment at the bottom will become dark.
Filter the oil. The filtered waste will feel like sand between your fingers. This means all moisture has been removed and chances of getting fungus in hair oil is less.
Store in air tight bottles and massage into hair and hair roots. Soak for an hour or over night and wash away. This might stain pillow cases. You can cover pillow with a thick towel to avoid staining.
