Laced stepped running stitch is another super easy border stitch ideal for kids embroidery patterns. It is worked between 2 parallel running stitches. But the stitches in the parallel lines are placed like bricks on the wall.
Work 2 rows of running stitches like shown below.
Start in the middle of A
With the needle facing downwards, lace the needle through stitch B in line #2.
Now turn the needle in up and lace through stitch D and go back to A.
Turn the needle downwards and lace the needle through stitches C and B.
Go up by lacing through F and then C.
Continue lacing like this while paying attention to keep the loops the same size.
Completed work will look like this.
