Lazy Daisy stitch is one of the easiest of all embroidery stitches next only to running stitch. Since the chains look like petals, they can be used to embroider flowers. This stitch is also used to embroider leaves.

Lazy Daisy stitch is also called Detached Chain stitch.

This single loop can be scattered as light filling or as leaves and flower petals. These flowers can also be stitched side by side as a border.

Stitch a regular chain stitch.

Bring the needle up. Go down in the same spot and come back up where you want the chain to end. Loop the working thread under the needle and pull the needle.

Chain will look like this.

Anchor the end of that chain to the fabric like shown below.

To make a daisy flower, add more petals from the same center.
