Ingredients

Raw Mango – 1

Steamed rice – 2 Cups

For seasoning

Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon

Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon

Urad dal / Black gram dal – 2 teaspoon

Red chillies – 2

Curry leaves – 2 sprigs

Turmeric powder – 1 pinch

 

Method

Wash and peel mango

Shred mango

Some mangoes can be very sour. So amount of shredded mango required depends on the sourness of the mango. Make a little extra and the extra mango can be made into yummy mango pickle in 5 minutes.

Heat a teaspoon of oil. I prefer ghee or gingelly / sesame oil. Any cooking oil can be used.

Add mustard seeds and when it has stopped spluttering, add cumin seeds and stir fry for a few seconds. Then add black gram dal and stir fry till it is reddish brown in color.

Add red chillies followed by shredded mango. Stir fry for a few seconds till the moisture evaporates. Add salt and a pinch of turmeric powder.

Switch off the stove and add steamed rice and stir it gently till the masala coats the rice evenly.
