This DIY learning toy / educational craft is colorful and is bound to engage preschoolers. This is a perfect busy bag activity that can be taken along during a trip to the bank.
While having fun matching colors and playing with the felt squares, our preschooler’s hand eye coordination, pincer grip and fine motor skills are honed. Don’t forget the sensory experience achieved by handling felt and velcro.
Materials needed for matching colors felt craft
Felt in different colors
Velcro dots / Squares – If they are not available, cut velcro strips.
Hot glue gun / regular glue.
Cut 2 squares in each color. I prefer to use felt for kiddie crafts as it does not fray and it can withstand yanking and rough use. 😉
I used pinking shears to add a decorative edge to the squares. Pinking shears are usually used to prevent fraying of raw seams if you don’t have a serger or zig zag stitch in your sewing machine.
Glue one set of squares to the base sheet and then start adding the velcro squares.
Craft is ready for hours of color matching fun.
Pack it in a ziploc bag and you have a busy bag ready to keep your little one busy on the road.
