Onion chutney ( vengaaya thogayal ) is easy to make. It is a tasty side dish for dosa / idli / roti.
Onions – chopped
Mustard seeds, urad dal
A small 1 centimeter sized piece of tamarind
(A lot of tamarind is seen in this picture. Please don’t add so much 🙂 )
Heat a little oil in a pan and fry the onions till they are cooked.
Take it aside in a plate and then fry the other ingredients.
Grind everything except onions.
Blend only for few seconds as we want a coarse texture.
Grind the onions.
Test for salt
Vengaya thogayal is ready
Enjoy with Dosa / idli / roti
