Steamed Garbanzo / Kondakadalai Sundal is an easy to make, protein rich snack that can be made in 15 minutes (not counting the soaking time). Chick peas is very rich in fiber and is a very good protein source for growing children and vegetarians.
The recipe is very simple. Wash and soak Garbanzo or chick peas in hot water for minimum 4 hours. This will quicken the cooking process.
Cook the soaked chick peas preferably in pressure cooker till you get 3 whistles.
It should not be overcooked or it will be become a mashed mess. The peas should be soft while maintaining its shape.
Other Ingredients Needed
Heat a teaspoon of oil and add mustard seeds. Once they have finished spluttering, add curry leaves and then cumin seeds and stir fry for 30 seconds and then add red chilli.
Add the cooked Garbanzo and stir fry for 2 minutes till everything is mixed well. Switch off the stove and remove the vessel from the stove and then add shredded coconut.
Coconut should not be added when the stove is on or it will get cooked.
Mix everything together one more time and enjoy healthy, fiber rich and protein rich snack.
