Twisted laced stepped running stitch is a running stitch variation ideal for kids embroidery patterns. This is an easy border stitch.
Here thread is laced and twisted around the base running stitches.

Start by stitching two parallel rows of running stitches. The stitches are placed in a brick like pattern.
Bring the needle up at E.
Lace through E and A.
wrap the needle around A and lace the needle through stitch F while passing under the stitch that was made just now.
Wrap the needle around stitch F and lace it through stitch B while passing under the stitch that was made just now.
Repeat the steps as shown below.
